OK, just to make it clear, I'm over this winter stuff. I want 70+ degrees and sunny. I want my Chacos tan lines, bike tan lines and taking naps in the sunshine after a long hard ride. Boh, being an adult sucks, so does responsibility.
We left off last time sipping some Gin and making dinner before heading up to Mt. Bachelor for some XC skiing. Made it to Bend, got to the mountain and had ourselves a ski lesson. All was going swell until Lauren took a tumble and bruised her tailbone (complete bummer, on all ends). That ended our ski excursion, we did however make the best of our time in Bend. Visiting McMenamins, enjoying our hot tub, watching Cops on TV…The usual vacation activites. We headed down to Sisters the next morning, found a cozy little cafe for breakfast and slowly made our way back west to Salem.
It was a nice vacation, capped off by 13 hrs training on the bike. After 4 and 5 hour rides back to back, I was ready for a few days off. This past week was 14 hrs of training which felt pretty good. Topped that off with a nice 5hr ride nearly to Albany on the Willamette Valley Scenic Bike Route. Gorgeous and flat, goes all the way down to Eugene. Soon I'll ride its entirety down, pickup teammate Adam and see Mr. English.

Despite being Monday, this week has shaped up to be an eventful one: I no longer have my student loans thanks to my wonderful parents, we've booked our flights to France in July 2015 for a proper honeymoon, and this is a 10 hr rest week. Today, Lauren and I went to Willamette Mission State Park for some off road riding in the 60 degree weather. Nothing quite as badass as riding your road bike in the dirt and gravel. More updates about our France trip and what we've got planned coming soon.
This month I'm going to try and get the English Cycles team together down here in Salem for a team ride of sorts and some getting to know each other. We're starting the 2015 season 5 strong and I'm very excited to continue to get to know my teammates. I don't plan on upping the training intensity until March or so, racing won't pickup until then either. Currently in the process of deciding what races I'm going to do on the OBRA calendar.
That's about all for now, I've got some components on the way for my English bike and it should be fully build shortly. Stay tuned, check back often.
Until next time,
Cheers,
