KA-BOOM! Ok now I've got your attention, let's begin with happenings this week. The weather is gorgeous out which means I've kept off my rain bike and have postponed the installation of fenders on the fleet. I've even been able to show off a little more skin than expected (that's for the ladies, ok one in particular). This is the week to get used to more volume of riding after taking time off the bike so there have been no expectations set other than to plant my derrière on that hard-nosed saddle and pedal along. I even made an "easy listening" playlist on my ipod so I wouldn't be tempted to push the pace too much. Despite listening to Michael Buble, I still finished a ride yesterday and ended up taking a KOM. I suppose that's a good omen of more to come.
In other news, our fridge is barren and empty save a few condiments, we are clearly past due on our grocery date. That will happen tonight and I'll make a new batch of portables for riding during this next week. The last batch I made was coconut, nutella and honey; turned out fairly well but I'm pretty sure I went a little too overboard with the lemon juice so I'll be sure to note that for next time. I'm thinking for this upcoming week we will be making leige waffles, a savory rice cake and some more baked eggs with bacon.
With the changing of the leaves it always causes some reflection on past seasons, I've made many changes of these last 10 years of integrating cycling into my life. Who would have ever guessed that some little scrawny kid from a podunk little town would make his way to the "big city" land a job in his dream field and start making a name for himself. I live and work around bicycles and I couldn't be more content with my career path for work and my athleticism. There will be doubt along the way but we can't have forward movement without questioning where we're going (Woah, that was a pretty deep thought right there). Now that I've found a lady who shares my same passion for life, bikes and balance we're going to make one hell of a team, throw a certified lap cat into the mix (who now has permanent grease stains on the tips of her ears from walking underneath our fleet of bikes) and we're set to conquer the world! For now I guess we'll start with taking a few more KOM's.
